Guide to the Best Restaurants in Gibraltar

Gibraltar is the perfect destination for sight-seeing, drinking, sunbathing and most importantly, eating.

Gibraltar hosts a mix of British venues as well as individual, local restaurants. This visual compilation is here to inform you, or possibly to make you very very hungry.

Although not the most exciting sounding, or the most visually pleasing, The Arena sports venue has its perks. Complete with its own outdoor cinema-sized screen and attached to a casino, The Arena is good for light snacks, nachos and mini breakfasts. But the real steal here is the drinks.

With no happy hour, the venue boasts 2-4-1 cocktails, all day, every day, making it the most affordable drinking venue in the whole of the Ocean Village marina.

For a more filling option, popular restaurant Wagamama is a good option. The menu may be no different here, but the Wagamama experience in Gibraltar is far different from mainland Britain, fit with outdoor seating perfect for people watching and catching some rays.

Another popular British favourite in Gibraltar is Pizza Express. But forget your stuffy indoor oven-heated restaurants, this Pizza Express boasts an outdoor terrace fit with a sea-view.

Another favourite within the Ocean Village complex is The Ivy, again fit with it’s outdoor seating, twisting plants and good value meals.

At another harbour hotspot, Queensway Quay is the Water Front Restaurant and Bar.

With a different but equally picturesque marina, The Water Front is surprisingly affordable, especially due to it’s undeniably huge lunch servings.

By far the best value restaurant that I’ve found in Gibraltar is the Casino Admiral restaurant. It’s no gamblers-only haunt, the Admiral restaurant is filled with tourists and locals alike, most likely due to its stunning sea-view terrace and excellent prices.

The best part about this restaurant? They have a huge 2-4-1 selection of meals! And no, there were no minuscule portions here…

Clearly Gibraltar has a varied and extensive food-scene and clearly I ate far too much food whilst I was there, but if you’re planning a trip to Gibraltar and are looking for some advice about the restaurants, then I hope this guide is useful. Likewise if you’re looking for a holiday destination with appetising food options (which is obviously very important) then I hope you’ll consider British overseas territory and my favourite holiday destination, Gibraltar.

  1. Sam says:

I have always wondered whether Gibraltar boasts very similar bars and restaurants to the UK. Do you see many similarities to Britain there?
