The Vine in Wombourne is a mix between family pub and up-street restaurant. The country-cottage décor creates a sophisticated alternative to the local Wetherspoons, with candlelit tables and comfy sofa seats.
I had the turkey roast dinner as my meal (it was a Sunday after all) which costed around £10. And was pleasantly surprised by the succulent turkey and meat-infused potatoes. The ‘endless jug’ of gravy turned out to be one jug between four, yet seemed to suffice. The veg was separate to share between two yet there was more than enough.
I treated myself to an Eton Mess cheesecake which I couldn’t finish. The pudding portion sizes were huge and well worth the price at around £5 each. I shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio rosé which was brought to the table in a jug of ice, a nice touch to a reasonably priced bottle.
The Vine provides a dim-lit ambience whilst maintaining the feel of a cosy country pub. The perfect mix.
